Vice President for Mission Integration

Edgewood College in Madison, Wisconsin seeks qualified applicants for the position of Vice President for Mission Integration (VPMI). This 12-month position serves on the president’s cabinet, and reports directly to the President of the college. 

The VPMI provides strategic vision and leadership in communicating, integrating, and promoting a shared understanding of the College’s Catholic, Dominican mission, informed by the sponsorship of the Dominican Sisters of Sinsinawa. The VPMI engages students, faculty, staff, administrators, and trustees to cultivate a robust mission-oriented campus culture, championing structures and policies that reflect our Sinsinawa Dominican Values, which are informed by Catholic Social Teaching.

The VPMI co-leads the Division of Mission, Values, and Inclusion (MVI) with the chief diversity, equity, and inclusion officer. Within the Division of MVI, the VPMI directly supervises the Director of Campus Ministries and is a secondary supervisor of the Assistant to the Provost for Academic Mission Integration.

Anticipated Start Date: July 1, 2024

Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership: As a vice president and member of the President’s cabinet, the VPMI serves as the institution’s chief mission officer and is responsible for the development and oversight of campus Dominican mission development, programming, and integration, working to ensure that the campus community develops a shared understanding of mission and its impact on work and learning.

Programmatic Leadership & Pastoral Care: The VPMI is responsible for the preservation and promotion of Edgewood College’s Dominican mission, assuring that the institution’s mission and values pervade all programmatic and pastoral activities.

Partnerships: The VPMI serves an important role in representing Edgewood College’s mission and values to a number of internal and external audiences, including our Sinsinawa Dominican sponsors, other higher education 

Job Qualifications

Necessary Education or Work Experience

  • Advanced degree in theology,  ministry, or related field, with preference given to candidates with a terminal degree (Ph.D., D.Min., or related).
  • Minimum of 7 years of ministry experience, including a minimum of 3 years of leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated record of effective leadership in a mission-focused area in higher education.
  • Professional experience that prepares the candidate to fulfill the position’s essential duties and responsibilities.
  • Ability to articulate the opportunities and challenges of integrating the Catholic intellectual tradition and Catholic social thought within a diverse campus community. 
  • Understand of and enthusiasm for the Dominican tradition, the charism of the Dominican Sisters of Sinsinawa, and Catholic intellectual, social, and ethical traditions.
  • Intercultural competence and commitment to advancing diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, access, and justice goals as mission-critical. 

Preferred Work Experience

  • Knowledge of canon law, liturgical norms, and contemporary developments in sponsorship of Catholic ministries, including higher education.
  • Knowledge of and experience planning Catholic liturgical celebrations.
