Lauren Lacey receives award
Madison, Wis. (June 3, 2019) – Dr. Lauren Lacey has been honored with the 2019 Underkofler Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching Award at Edgewood College.

“Dr. Lacey is a model teacher and exceptionally deserving of this recognition,” Dr. Dean Pribbenow, Vice President for Academic Affairs, said. “Colleagues and students alike cite her high academic standards and commitment to an engaging, mentoring learning environment as qualities that allow students to excel both in and outside the classroom.”

Dr. Lacey is Associate Professor in the English Department, and is Co-Director of the Women’s and Gender Studies Program. She earned both undergraduate and Master’s degrees at Boston College, and earned her Ph.D. in Literatures in English from Rutgers University.

The James R. Underkofler Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching Award honors a faculty member, chosen by a committee of faculty, students, and alumni of Edgewood College, who exemplifies the highest standards of teaching excellence. The award is given in honor of James R. Underkofler, a long-time senior executive with Alliant Energy, who retired in 1990. The award pays tribute to Underkofler’s enduring interest in encouraging and promoting undergraduate teaching excellence.
