Edgewood College Welcomes Eboo Patel for Lecture

  • Monday, Feb 12, 2018
Madison, Wis. (February 12, 2018) – Edgewood College is pleased to welcome EbooEboo Patel Patel to the 2018 Siena/Common Reading Lecture. This special evening begins 7:00 pm, Wednesday March 7, 2018, in Anderson Auditorium. There is no admission charge, but seating is limited.

Mr. Patel will present ‘Crossroads of Inheritance and Discovery – Inspiring Interfaith Action.’

Mr. Patel is the author of Acts of Faith, the 2017-’18 Common Reading selection for Edgewood College. He is the founder of Interfaith Youth Core, an organization built on the idea that religion should be a bridge of cooperation rather than a barrier of division. He is inspired to build this bridge by his identity as an American Muslim navigating a religiously diverse social landscape. Mr. Patel holds a doctorate in the Sociology of Religion from Oxford University, where he studied on a Rhodes scholarship.

As the United States becomes more religiously diverse, and as tensions around faith increase, institutions of higher learning and religious communities have an opportunity and a responsibility to nurture interfaith leaders. Interfaith leaders have the vision, knowledge, and skills to create spaces, and craft conversations so our differences enrich, rather than threaten, our religious traditions.

The 2018 Siena/Common Reading Lecture is sponsored in part by the Heideman Crossing Educational Boundaries Fund.
