Edgewood College seeks adjunct instructors to teach in asynchronous graduate (master’s and doctoral) level programs in one or more of the following areas: Course Design; Technology in Education; Diversity & Inclusion in Education; Data Analytics in Education; Action Research; Elementary Education; Secondary Education; Educational Research; Cross-cultural & Multilingual Education; Emerging Technologies in Education; and AI in Education.

Adjunct instructors are responsible for course planning, design, and instruction in a fully online format using the Blackboard learning management system. In addition, adjunct faculty are responsible for student evaluation and submission of required paperwork related to instruction within expected timelines. All Division of Education programs aim to advance equity in education by preparing educators for anti-racist work through a grounding in Edgewood College values and providing teaching that is culturally and linguistically sustaining.

Responsibilities

  • Implement course preparation guidelines and quality assurance review processes to develop each course to be taught.
  • Plan and teach courses and facilitate student learning in assigned classes according to the College’s core values and the Division of Education vision to create equity in education.
  • Create and distribute a course syllabus in alignment with the course description, including course requirements and grading criteria.
  • Maintain student grading records according to College policy
  • Collaborate with Division of Education faculty and staff to provide consistent, effective learning and support for students.
  • Monitor, assess, and support student performance, and advise students on academic issues as needed.
  • Keep current in research and practice related to program content
  • Maintain confidentiality relating to student matters.
  • Comply with college policies and guidelines.

Job Qualifications

Necessary Education or Work Experience

  • Earned doctorate with graduate level work in education.
  • Documented successful experience teaching college courses or professional development in education.

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Knowledge of standards and trends in education and work in relevant professional settings.
  • Ability to plan for and deliver quality instruction
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Proficiency in the use of technology, electronic learning systems, and online instruction
