The Henry Predolin School of Nursing, Business, and Health Sciences’ Nursing programs are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and approved by the Wisconsin Board of Nursing. Edgewood College offers a variety of nursing programs ranging from a Bachelor of Science degree that prepares individuals for entrance into the nursing profession, to a terminal degree (DNP) designed for current nursing leaders.

Mission

The Henry Predolin School of Nursing, Business, and Health Sciences’ Nursing programs reflect the Mission of Edgewood College by locating professional nursing education within the context of a Catholic, liberal arts setting in the Dominican tradition. Nursing is a profession built on knowledge from nursing theory, research and practice, the humanities, and the natural and behavioral sciences. Students are educated in a dynamic interactive environment to be knowledgeable, accountable, responsible, ethical and culturally sensitive graduates who will become leaders in a changing and diverse healthcare environment.

In Business, Communication, and Innovation (BCI), students gain the tools, knowledge and experience needed to become leaders and to make a positive impact on the business world and beyond. Our approach to professional education enhances students’ abilities to be critical, creative thinkers who communicate effectively and excel in a diverse and ever-changing global economy.

BCI’s curricular design ensures that our content and teaching methods meet the changing needs of our graduates, their employers and the community. Full-time and executive/ professional adjunct faculty teach a broad array of courses relevant to future business and societal demands, with ethical leadership, entrepreneurship, sustainability, and global perspectives integrated throughout our curriculum.

BCI educates an average of 300 undergraduate and 200 graduate students each academic year. With a value-based and student-centered approach, we prepare students to be successful, ethical, and entrepreneurial community leaders.

Communications Studies

The Communication Studies programs prepare students for fulfilling personal and professional lives enriched by community engagement and based on a theoretical and practical understanding of communication.

As a Communication Studies major, students learn how to listen, how to persuade, and how to engage in civic life. Students study communication in personal relationships, businesses and other organizations, media, and across genders and cultures. In addition, students gain valuable hands-on experience through internships, community-based projects, and research classes.

The Health Science major includes up to three years of undergraduate academic study and completing the General Education degree requirements. Transfer students must take at least 8 biology credits at Edgewood College for a Health Science major.

This major requires a full two-year internship (including summer) at the University of Wisconsin Health (UW Health). Students can select either the sonography (1 summer internship) or radiography (2 summer internships) concentration. The number of credits earned during the internship depends on the concentration selected.

Certified Child Life Specialists (CCLS) develop strategies and techniques that assist children and families in coping, reducing worry, and provide emotional support throughout stressful experiences. Art Therapy is a mental health profession that combines psychotherapeutic theories with an understanding of art materials and their affective properties. Art therapy uses art media and the creative process to help foster self-expression and coping skills.

As an Art Therapy major at Edgewood College, you will work alongside award-winning faculty who are actively engaged in field research. With active guidance in addition to state-of-the-art LEED-certified facilities, you can expect to gain knowledge in creative expression, team skills, effective communication, and commitment to using art as a form of healing. The curriculum emphasizes both theoretical and practical aspects of art therapy, encompassing supervised field experience across diverse settings, psychology fundamentals, and studio art training.

Master of Arts in Art Therapy and Counseling

As a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT), you are specifically trained to treat mental and emotional concerns individually, relationally, and systemically. Whether a concern is related to work or home, parent-child, immediate/extended family, partner/couple or other contemporary relationship, an MFT focuses on providing holistic care from a systemic perspective that is inclusive of a client’s relationships and environment.

MFTs are mental health professionals who receive training in both psychotherapy and family systems. They are trained and equipped to recognize how relational dynamics impact mental health as well as how mental health impacts relationships. While treatment focuses primarily on the individual(s) in the room, awareness of the broader perspective of the systems surrounding those individuals is important to successful therapy outcomes.

Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy 

The Edgewood College Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD) program helps you achieve your goals faster. You’ll earn your doctorate degree in just two years, preparing you to pursue advanced opportunities in the dynamic and impactful field of occupational therapy. The hybrid program offers you the opportunity to stay in your own community while you pursue your degree.  

Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD)

Thanatology is the cross-disciplinary study of dying, death, loss, and grief and is both an academic and applied discipline. Thanatologists, defined broadly, are individuals who have been specifically trained about the dying and grieving process, including evidence-based practices for individual and family care, interprofessional healthcare team competencies, and current research. The MS in Thanatology prepares graduates for employment or volunteer work in a variety of settings where care for the dying and/or grieving are important including hospices; hospitals; faith communities; non-profit organizations; family, children and teen grief centers; funeral homes; and academic settings. The program expects students to bring and further develop excellent critical thinking and writing skills, resulting in graduates who are competent practitioner-scholars.
