Bilingual Education Concentration

The Bilingual Education Licensing sequence prepares students to pursue the Wisconsin DPI Bilingual Education license. The Bilingual Education license (023/1023) is a supplemental license allowing teachers to teach subjects in two languages. The program entails coursework, a semester of student teaching, clinical evaluations aligned to the standards, a portfolio, and demonstration of language proficiency.

The Bilingual Education license is an add-on license that can  be added on to an initial license.

Program Prerequisite

Program prerequisite: a current WDPI license at one of the following levels: Initial Educator, Professional Educator, Masters Educator within one of the following fields; EC-MC, MC-EA regular education, EA-A in a specific content area, or EC-A Foreign Language (for ESL add-on only).

For licensure plus a master’s degree, add the following courses:

Educational Leadership Concentration

The Educational Leadership Program focuses on developing culturally and linguistically responsive educational leaders. The program highlights restorative justice practices, social justice, and educational equity. The coursework is designed to encompass the Eleven Wisconsin Administrator standards and to promote critical thinking through the lens of ethical leadership.

Program Licenses:

  1. Educational Leadership – Director of Instruction, Licensing
  2. Educational Leadership – Director of Special Education and Pupil Services, Licensing
  3. Educational Leadership – Principal, Licensing
  4. Educational Leadership – School Business Administrator, Licensing

Program Requirements

For licensure plus a master’s degree in educational leadership, add the following courses:

Elementary Education Concentration

Additional Program Requirements

In addition to the Core Master’s Degree Experiences, a student must complete the Accelerated Certification Elementary (ACE) Licensing Sequence or the Asynchronous Elementary Education Licensing Sequence.

In addition to the Core Master’s Degree Experiences, a student must complete the Accelerated Secondary Program (ASP) Licensing Sequence or the Asynchronous Secondary Education Licensing Sequence.

Plus, one additional three-credit EDU or AREDU course at the 600-level or higher as approved by advisor.
