Learn more about the WPS insurance plan available to all Edgewood students.
At Edgewood College all* international students and exchange visitors are required to purchase health insurance to protect against the high cost of medical care in the United States.
All F-1 students, J-1 exchange visitors and J-2 dependents need to enroll in our health insurance plan with WPS Health Insurance, and the fee will be billed directly to your student account through the College’s Business Office. WPS is a non-profit corporation that has been providing quality health care coverage to people in Wisconsin for over 65 years. With this plan, all services you receive at the Edgewood College Health Center are covered at 100% (no additional cost to you). In addition to the College’s Health Center, there are many providers in the WPS network in the Madison area where you will receive 80% coverage after paying a $100 deductible. Students should carefully review WPS policy information (link below), especially the prescription drug benefits, and contact the Center for Global Education or Health Services if you have concerns about the coverage. You can use www.goodrx.com to help you determine the cost of prescription drugs in the U.S.
Waivers: Students sponsored by SACM, ISEP and Study USA, who are required to be enrolled in insurance through their programs, and other students who have comparable insurance coverage in the US can apply for a waiver from the Edgewood insurance enrollment requirement. Visit the Gallagher Student Health website for details.
