Empowering the Next Generation of Ethical Leaders

The Emerging Leaders Program (ELP) is Edgewood College’s flagship initiative designed to support students from historically underrepresented populations. ELP seeks to cultivate leaders dedicated to upholding the Sinsinawa Dominican values of truth, justice, compassion, partnership, and community. Grounded in the mission of Edgewood College, this program is tailored to foster lifelong learning and ethical leadership, empowering students to contribute to a sustainable, just, and compassionate world. Emphasizing the core value of community, students are required to complete a set number of community service hours, building a heart fond of service and reinforcing their commitment to having a positive impact on the world around them.

Welcoming our first cohort of students to the program in 2007, ELP has been inspiring leadership for many years and since its inception, has grown to serve 10 BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) students each academic year.  Today, program participants benefit from financial assistance, individualized support, and are immersed in a holistic learning environment that addresses their academic, emotional, and social needs.

The financial support alleviated any concerns about tuition, allowing me to fully immerse myself in college life, make meaningful connections, and contribute to building community.
