Award Categories
Each fall, Edgewood College recognizes extraordinary alumni with three awards:
Distinguished Alumni Award
The Distinguished Alumni Award acknowledges the accomplishments of alumni who have achieved excellence in their professional career and have demonstrated a commitment of ethical leadership, service, and search for truth.
Dominican Mission Award
The Dominican Mission Award recognizes alumni who have shown a commitment to social justice or a history of extraordinary volunteer service in the community, country, or the world.
Promise Award
The Promise Award recognizes alumni, 40 years of age or younger, who are emerging leaders and have achieved a high level of success through professional accomplishments and service to their alma mater or community.
2024 Alumni Award Recipients
Mark Lowry ’77
Mark was one of the first student-athletes of the College’s inaugural basketball program. His love of the College has led him to serve as a Trustee, a supporter of Athletics, and more. Mark is the President and Founder of the National Golf Player Development Foundation, whose mission is to inspire young people of color to become purpose-driven players in the game of golf.
Eileen Harrington ’77
A lifelong advocate for justice, Eileen spent 33 years serving the public as an attorney, leader, and senior executive, in Washington, D.C., at the Federal Trade Commission and U.S. Small Business Administration. President Clinton conferred on Eileen the highest recognition given to U.S. civil servants, the rank of Distinguished Executive.
Christina Heltsley, O.P. ’81
In 2023, Sr. Christina was elected to serve on the Sinsinawa Dominican Leadership team as Prioress. She has devoted her life to education and social service as a teacher, principal, and superintendent primarily in inner city schools, as well as Executive Director of the St. Francis Center in Redwood, CA.
Peggy Weber ’90, MSN ’07
Peggy’s commitment to nursing has spanned more than 45 years. Her life-long interest in cancer care and education led her to create many award-winning support groups with curriculum in cancer, grief, death, and dying.
Mathias Lemos Castillo ’18
Mathias is an alumnus of the College’s Emerging Leaders Program. His passion for working with people and creating meaningful engagement opportunities guided his founding of MLC Consulting which focuses on helping individuals and organizations achieve their goals through intentional community engagement.
Emily (Ciha) Jacobson ’07
Emily is a dedicated labor and postpartum doula, providing essential support to families during the childbearing years. In 2015, she founded Green Bay Doulas, a business focused on offering unbiased and judgment-free assistance to expectant mothers before, during, and after childbirth.
