Online Accelerated Bachelor of Science Program Specialist/Outreach Coordinator
Description of Job
The program specialist/outreach coordinator is responsible for the online acclerated bachelor of science nursing (ABSN) program support within the Henry Predolin School of Nursing, Business, Education, and Health Sciences (SoNBEHS). Primarily, the program specialist/outreach coordinator is responsible for coordinating student services for the online ABSN for the SoNBEHS. Operating under the auspices of the Dean, Program Director, the Associate Dean, and Assistant Dean, this position coordinates student advising and academic services.
Responsibilities
Academic responsibilities
- Coordinates academic activities and services within the online ABSN program.
- Serve as initial point of contact for questions for the online ABSN admitted students regarding nursing requirements including specific questions related to the program, uniform requirements and program schedule,
- Serve as intake coordinator for post-baccalaureate applications received through NursingCAS in Slate,
- Meet with students regarding program-specific questions,
- Distribute information to students regarding opportunities around campus to get involved with the community,
- Attend recruitment events,
- Provides linkages between assigned programs to promote consistency and coordination in efforts across programs,
- Performs academic advising assigned,
- Assists with fulfilling accreditation requirements,
- Serve as the ATI administrator for both students and faculty.
Governance responsibilities
- Coordinate program planning for the ABSN program.
- Communicates and coordinates effectively with faculty.
- Serves as the programs’ advocate within SoNBEHS
- Collaborate with the SoNBEHS Assessment Committee and Undergraduate Curriculum Committee to plan assessment activities, using data for program quality improvement.
Development/Outreach responsibilities
- Facilitates staff development efforts related to advising.
- Enhances visibility of the program.
- Works closely with faculty/staff in tracking student retention and progress.
- Assists in marketing and recruitment for students/faculty for new and existing programs.
Job Qualifications
Necessary Education or Work Experience
- Bachelor’s degree and experience in working in an academic setting.
- Experience working with faculty development and working with administrative personnel.
- Possess public and interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead through collaborative decision-making and ability to work effectively with internal and external constituents.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Nursing, Education, or a related field.
- Successful record of leadership and accomplishment in areas such as: negotiating between faculty, students and parents with academic concerns; strategic planning; faculty leadership; administration of exemplary academic programs with success in improving educational outcomes and student retention.
- Experience integrating communication, technology, and information resources into teaching and other operations of the college.
- Demonstrated success in attracting and retaining students from under-represented populations.
- Knowledge of online course delivery.
