If you excel in academics, leadership, or the arts, you may be eligible for merit-based scholarships to help you pay for college. You may also qualify for some scholarships based on your financial need or if you are a member of an underrepresented community—these scholarships help build a more diverse and inclusive community at Edgewood College. The best thing about scholarships is that they don’t need to be repaid.

Scholarships for Freshmen

As an incoming freshman at Edgewood College, you may be eligible for scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $25,000.

Academic Scholarships

The following scholarships are based only on your high school cumulative grade point average (GPA). No application is required, though you must be enrolled full-time at Edgewood College. We automatically consider all admitted students for these renewable scholarships.

The Founder’s Scholarship

  • $25,000 per year
  • Awarded to students with a high school GPA of 3.9–4.0

The Trustees’ Scholarship

  • $23,000 per year
  • Awarded to students with a high school GPA between 3.7–3.89

The President’s Scholarship

  • $22,000 per year
  • Awarded to students with a high school GPA between 3.45–3.69

The Dean’s Scholarship

  • $20,000 per year
  • Awarded to students with a high school GPA between 3.0–3.44

The Access Scholarship

  • $17,000 per year
  • Awarded to students with a high school GPA of 2.99 or below

Alumni Award

  • $1,000 per year
  • Automatically awarded to admitted students whose parents or grandparents attended Edgewood College
  • No application is required, though you must be enrolled full-time at Edgewood College

Voyager Award

  • $2,000 per year
  • Automatically awarded to admitted students who live outside the state of Wisconsin
  • No application is required, though you must be enrolled full-time at Edgewood College

Predolin Award

This competitive scholarship is awarded to high-achieving students with financial need who are interested in studying science, engineering, medicine, nursing, or business.

  • $4,000–$8,000 per year
  • We invite admitted students to apply for this highly competitive and renewable specialty award

Emerging Leaders Program

The Emerging Leaders Program (ELP) scholarship awards between $5,000-$10,000 annually. To qualify, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Be admitted into Edgewood College as a traditional incoming first-year student
  • Submit a scholarship application, and if selected, complete an interview
  • Come from a historically underrepresented group and graduate from a Wisconsin high school
  • Demonstrate financial need and leadership skills

Scholarships for Transfer Students

Transferring to Edgewood College from another school? You may qualify for a variety of scholarship awards from $1,000 up to $12,000.

Academic Scholarships

You’re eligible for transfer academic scholarships if you transfer to Edgewood College with 12 or more credits from an accredited institution and have a qualifying cumulative college grade point average (GPA). We automatically consider admitted students for this renewable scholarship. No application is required, though you must be enrolled full-time at Edgewood College.

Transfer Distinguished Scholarship

  • $12,000 per year
  • Must present a cumulative college GPA of 3.5 or above in all college coursework

Transfer Excellence Scholarship

  • $10,000 per year
  • Must present a cumulative college GPA between 3.25–3.49 in all college coursework

Transfer Honor Scholarship

  • $8,000 per year
  • Must present a cumulative college GPA of 3.0–3.24 in all college coursework

Transfer Achievement Scholarship

  • $6,000 per year
  • Must present a cumulative college GPA of 2.5–2.99 in all college coursework

Alumni Award

  • $1,000 per year
  • Automatically awarded to admitted students whose parents or grandparents attended Edgewood College
  • No application is required, though you must be enrolled full-time at Edgewood College

Wisconsin Partnership Award

  • $2,000 per year
  • Automatically awarded to admitted transfer students who live within the state of Wisconsin
  • No application is required, though you must be enrolled full-time at Edgewood College

Transfer Opportunity Award

  • $2,000 per year
  • Automatically awarded to admitted students who live outside the state of Wisconsin
  • No application is required, though you must be enrolled full-time at Edgewood College

Predolin Award

This competitive scholarship is awarded to high achieving students with financial need who are interested in studying science, engineering, medicine, nursing, or business.

  • $6,000-$8,000 per year
  • Admitted students can apply for this competitive and renewable specialty award

Scholarships for an Inclusive Community

You want to attend college where you feel welcome, where you belong, and where you can become an inclusive leader in a diverse world. That’s why Edgewood College offers scholarships and awards to students from underrepresented communities.

St. Martin de Porres Scholarship

The St. Martin de Porres Scholarship offers financial assistance to a domestic student of color with financial need and strong academic performance.

Pepsi Endowed Scholarship

The Pepsi Diversity Endowed Scholarship provides annual support to a minority student in financial need.

Fund for Edgewood College Educators

The Fund for Edgewood Educators offers financial support to future educators, increases opportunities for students underrepresented on campus, and focuses on diversifying the education profession. In addition to financial support, a student scholar benefits from the opportunity to work with and learn from an Edgewood College faculty mentor.

Criteria:

  • Must be an undergraduate education major in financial need poised to teach in a local school serving a diverse population

Myrtis Nickelberry Memorial Scholarship

Dr. Odell Nickelberry, MBA ’94, created the Myrtis Nickelberry Memorial Scholarship to honor and celebrate the life and legacy of his mother, Myrtis Nickelberry. This scholarship recognizes her dedication to motherhood and the sacrifices she made as a single mother, as well as her faith in and advocacy of higher education.

Criteria:

  • Must be a full-time undergraduate student in financial need
  • Must be from a single-parent home
  • Must be from outside Wisconsin
  • Preference will be given to a minority student

Scholarship Resources for Undocumented, DREAMer, and DACA Students

If you are an undocumented, DREAMer, or DACA student, financial aid and scholarships can help you earn an affordable education at Edgewood College.

DREAMER Scholarship

Students currently enrolled at Edgewood College can apply for the DREAMER Educational Scholarship. This scholarship is awarded to a current full-time, undocumented undergraduate student(s) in financial need. The committee will also consider the student’s academic standing in the selection process.

The number of student recipients and a selection committee comprising representatives from The Sharing the Dream Committee and the Financial Aid Office will determine the amount awarded to each. The scholarship is renewable.

Please note that any information shared on your scholarship application will be used strictly for scholarship selection purposes, and the scholarship committee values the protection of your information.

A call for scholarship applications occurs annually during the spring semester. Applications must be completed and received by the deadline to be considered.

Eligibility and criteria:

  • Be enrolled full-time as an undergraduate at Edgewood College
  • Undocumented or DACA status
  • Demonstrate financial need
  • Good academic standing

A completed application includes:

  • Complete the scholarship application
  • Attach a personal impact statement to your scholarship application
  • Complete the DACA Financial Aid Application and attach it to your scholarship application

Scholarships and Financial Aid for Undocumented/DACA Students

Federal and state financial aid isn’t available for undocumented and DACA students; however, Edgewood College offers academic scholarships and specialty awards available to DREAMERS.

Students without citizenship are encouraged to complete the DREAMer/DACA Financial Aid Application. Please complete this one-page paper application and send it to ecentral@edgewood.edu

Note: Completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is NOT required to be eligible for Edgewood College academic scholarships or specialty awards.

Scholarships for Military, Veterans, and Dependents

All active, reserve, or National Guard service members, honorably discharged veterans, or dependents of service members or veterans are encouraged to apply for these exclusive scholarships. Email veteransoffice@edgewood.edu for more details.

Elizabeth O’Brien Scholarship Fund

Elizabeth graduated from Edgewood College in 1944 and became a teacher with the Department of Defense. During her career, she taught children on military bases around the world.

The Elizabeth A. O’Brien Scholarship Fund is open to all current service members and veterans who have served over two years in any capacity or branch of the Armed Services.

Naylor Classic Charities Scholarship

The Naylor family has a rich history of public service, ranging from military service to education to law enforcement and serving in various federal and state service roles. The scholarship was developed by Joe Naylor, a 2013 Edgewood College graduate of the Returning Adult Accelerated Degree program with a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Behavior & Leadership. Joe serves as the Chief of Community Relations / Voluntary Services for the William S. Middleton Memorial VA Hospital, which is part of the US Department of Veterans Affairs.

The Naylor Classic Charities Scholarship is the result of a great deal of effort by the Naylor family to give back to the communities that have served them. It’s open to adult students who are currently serving in any capacity in the military or veterans of any branch of the Armed Services.

Roger Boeker Veterans Fund

Roger joined the Marine Corps in 1965 and served a 13-month tour in Vietnam. Following his service, Roger briefly returned to Madison before moving throughout the United States to work for several large food companies. In 1992, Roger returned to Madison, where he began teaching undergraduate business courses at Edgewood College. As someone who understood the importance of education, Roger completed his MBA at Edgewood College in 1997.

The Roger Boeker Veterans Fund is open to student veterans who have served at least 360 days on active duty, have received an honorable discharge or continue to serve honorably, are registered at least as a three-quarters-time undergraduate or as a half-time graduate student, and are pursuing a degree in sciences, technology, engineering, math, or degrees housed in the School of Business or School of Nursing. Additional consideration will be given to applicants who have received their Eagle Scout badge or Gold Award; those who have served in the Marine Corps or as a Navy Corpsman; those who have served in an active combat zone; those who have served in combat; and those who have participated in a Foreign Service campaign.

WPS Veterans Scholarship

Through its Military and Veterans Health division, WPS Health Solutions administers claims and provides customer service and related activities worldwide for the US Defense Health Agency and the US Department of Veterans Affairs.

The WPS Health Solutions Veterans Scholarship started in 2015 through a generous grant from the WPS Charitable Foundation in Madison. The Foundation also provides financial support for veterans’ programming at Edgewood College.

The WPS Health Solutions Veterans Scholarship is open to all current service members, veterans, and dependents of veterans who are attending Edgewood College.

Scholarships for Music Students

If you express yourself through music or plan to make a career in the music industry, look into scholarships for music performance. And you don’t have to be a music major to qualify for some awards. You can find details on these scholarships in the Music Department academic catalog.

Sister E. Blackwell Music Scholarship

You can apply for this scholarship if you are a sophomore, junior, or senior who participates in a performing ensemble and takes private lessons. We evaluate applicants through a competitive process. Interested students should contact the Music Department Chair. The Music Department will supply information regarding audition requirements and deadlines. To be eligible for the award, you must show leadership and academic excellence and have outstanding performance in music courses, performances, and audition results.

Ballweg Music Scholarship

If you are an undergraduate student who has declared music as your major and intends to make music your profession, you can apply for this scholarship. The audition requires you to perform intermediate through advanced level works (as determined by the Music Department) for a duration of 15 minutes. The scholarship isn’t automatically renewable and is not automatically given each year. Interested students should contact the Music Department Chair.

Battcock Scholarship

Awarded to an undergraduate music student with financial need and having potential as a piano student. Interested students should contact the Music Department Chair.

DeEtte Beilfuss-Eager Scholarship

Awarded to an undergraduate student with financial need in the area of music with preference given to a student with advanced piano skills. Interested students should contact the Music Department Chair.

Vernon and Anja Sell Choral Scholar Endowment

You may apply for this scholarship if you have been an active member of an Edgewood College choir or chamber group for at least one year. To qualify, you should demonstrate continued growth in your singing and musicianship, as well as exceptional interpersonal leadership skills. Maintaining a good academic standing with the appropriate GPA is also a requirement. The award is given annually and solely based on merit. You can apply for the award in consecutive years. Interested students should contact the Music Department Chair.

Scholarships and Grants for Theatre Arts Students

Do you have a flair for drama and feel at home on stage? You may qualify for a scholarship in the theatre arts. Opportunities are available for theatre majors and non-theatre majors. Details on theatre scholarships can also be found in the Theatre Arts Department academic catalog.

Mary Frances Green Murphy Scholarship

Junior theatre arts majors with financial need and great enthusiasm and dedication to their chosen field may apply for this scholarship. You must demonstrate excellence in several areas:

  • Growth in the chosen theatre area
  • Breadth of knowledge
  • Strong academic interest
  • Collaborative working skills
  • Excellent work ethic
  • Leadership skills
