Opportunities to Get Involved

Dan Oryall ’10 has translated his student athlete experience at Edgewood College into success professionally, and then some. Oryall was a standout on the Eagle Cross Country and Track teams, and in 2010, he received his BS in Biochemistry. Shortly thereafter, he began graduate study at UW-Madison to become a Physician’s Assistant. In 2012, he began working fulltime as a General Surgery PA with Dean/St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison. Today, he competes as a triathlete. He began racing in triathlons while at the College, as a way to supplement his cross country and track training.

Student Named ‘Young Philanthropist of the Year’

Alex Haunty, a student at Edgewood College, has been named the ‘Young Philanthropist of the Year’ by the Madison chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals. Haunty was honored at today’s National Philanthropy Day luncheon at the Overture Center in Madison.

Edgewood College Joins ‘Greenlight’ Veterans Effort

Madison, Wis. (November 11, 2015) – Edgewood College has joined a national effort to ‘Greenlight a Vet’ by placing a green light in one of the exterior fixtures on campus. The fixture, which is next to the College parking shuttle stop, will remain a green light at least through the end of the semester.

Edgewood College Named to ‘Best for Vets 2016’ List

Edgewood College has earned a place on the Military Times Best for Vets: Colleges 2016 list, marking the first time the College has received this honor.

Willits and Marchionda Honored with Mazzuchelli Medallion

Madison, Wis. (November 5, 2015) – Edgewood College has honored Ann Willits, O.P. and Jim Marchionda, O.P. with the 2015 Mazzuchelli Medallion. The awarding of the Samuel Mazzuchelli medallion recognizes those who cultivate intellectual and spiritual resources to empower others. The Medallion, one of the College’s most significant honors, is named for Fr. Samuel Mazzuchelli, who founded the Dominican Sisters of Sinsinawa.

An Eye-Opening Experience

Associate Professor of Philosophy Lisa King experienced new and fascinating insights on a summer trip to Senegal. Through the Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE), King was able to join seven other educators from across the United States on a 10-day trip to the west African nation. Each morning, they listened in on lectures by local leaders and professors. In the afternoons they would travel and visit various historical sites.

College Hosts Former Death Row Inmate for Lecture

Madison, Wis. (October 13, 2015) – A former death row inmate, now exonerated, will speak to students and Greater Madison about his experiences in the courtroom, behind bars, and now as a free citizen. The identity of the speaker is intentionally withheld, to maximize impact for students.

“I Turned a Challenge into a Positive Thing”

Samantha Wendt’s summer internship took her to unexpected places, but she still discovered a positive and rewarding experience. Sam, a native of Oregon, Wis., interned at the Manitowoc County Domestic Violence and Sexual Resource Center, working in every aspect of the non-profit organization. Her main duty was to simply talk with clients and help them in a variety of ways.

Men’s Golf Achieves Both In and Out of the Classroom

The Edgewood College men’s golf team has placed themselves among the nation’s academically elite golf programs.
