College Launches Public Campaign for Residence Hall Project

The College is excited to announce the successful completion of the quiet phase of our residence hall capital campaign. With the help of a $1 million match from an anonymous donor and generous gifts from alumni, parents, friends, and community supporters, we are happy to announce that we have raised 80% of our $3.4 million fundraising goal.

Vice President & Dean of Students Maggie Balistreri-Clarke to Retire

Vice President for Student Development & Dean of Students Maggie Balistreri-Clarke will step down from her post at the end of the 2014-2015 academic year. Maggie has served as the chief student affairs officer for 21 years, and her impact has been felt by thousands of students, alumni, faculty, and staff.

Student Wins Major Award at American College Theatre Festival

Madison, Wis. (January 26, 2015) – Stacey Garbarski, a senior Theatre Arts major, and her scene partner Leigha Sander won the Irene Ryan Dramatist Guild Award for Excellence in a Performance from a New Play or Musical at the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival, Region 3, held earlier this month in Milwaukee. This marks the first time an Edgewood College student has been so honored.

Edgewood College Earns Carnegie Classification

Madison, Wis. (January 14, 2015) –Edgewood College has received the 2015 Community Engagement Classification from the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching. Edgewood College is now one of only 361 colleges and universities across the country that hold this classification, which will remain in effect for ten years.

College Named to Presidential Honor Roll for Community Service

The Corporation for National and Community Service has honored Edgewood College with a place on the 2014 President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll for commitment to service, civic engagement and service-learning. The College has received this honor for the past several years.

Professor Janice Havlena Receives Community Partner of the Year Award

Janice Havlena, Professor of Art Therapy, received the Community Partner of the Year Award from the Epilepsy Foundation Heart of Wisconsin at the Epilepsy Foundation 34th Annual Dinner in November.

Gift Results in $1 million Toward New Residence Hall

A gift of $500,000 to honor a student from the Cutting Edge program at Edgewood College, eligible for a dollar-for-dollar match from a second, anonymous donor, results in a $1 million gift for a new residence hall on campus.

It’s a ‘Beautiful Thing’ on Two Wheels

“This is my way of being able to give back, and ‘pay it forward.’ But I get just as much out of it as I put into it. It’s a beautiful thing.” Sherri Smith, a senior from Theresa, Wis., has served full-time for nearly twenty years in the Wisconsin Army National Guard. Through her connections with the Military and Veterans Service Office on campus she learned about Ride to Recovery, a national organization that provides opportunities for wounded and rehabilitating veterans to get out on bicycles and heal, whether it’s physical or mental.

Great Lakes Gift Creates the Daniel Carey Community Scholars Fund

Great Lakes Higher Education Corporation has created the Daniel Carey Community Scholars Fund with a gift to the College this week of $500,000. This new endowed fund named in honor of President Emeritus Dan Carey will support the full tuition of one additional Community Scholar every four years. Edgewood College created the Community Scholars Program, which supports three students each year with full tuition while they earn their undergraduate degrees.

When President Emeritus Dan Carey passed the Presidential Medallion, Scott Flanagan, Ed.D. officially became the seventh president of Edgewood College at the Inauguration Ceremony held Friday, October 24, 2014, in the Todd Wehr Edgedome.
