It's Easy to Feel Part of the Community

Under the bright lights of the Diane Ballweg Theatre stage on a cold Thursday night in January, thirty-two cast and crew members are working with David Frank, former producing artistic director of American Players Theatre in Spring Green, Wisconsin. As they prepare for the February 26 opening of Bertholt Brecht’s The Caucasian Chalk Circle , students are connecting with a director whose professional theatre experience helped APT become recognized as the “best classical theatre company in America” (Wall Street Journal).

Julia Carey, a Communications Studies major from Middleton, Wis., is currently an intern in the College’s Athletic Communications Office. And she is well-qualified. Over the summer, she enjoyed an internship with FOX Sports North, living and working in the Twin Cities.

Henry Predolin School of Nursing Awarded Major Grant

Madison, Wis. (January 12, 2016) – Edgewood College is pleased to announce that the Henry Predolin School of Nursing has been awarded a $42,000 grant from Bader Philanthropies, Inc. to develop a statewide collaborative among Wisconsin schools of nursing to address aging and dementia.

The Importance of Student Involvement

On the far northeast corner of campus, a group of faculty and students is putting the idea of sustainability into reality. On a crisp November morning, Senior Environmental Science major Ben Pratscher and associate professor Tim Kuhman, along with several other students, planted roughly 1,500 garlic cloves that will be harvested in the spring and used in both dining areas on campus. The garden, mostly hidden from view by a number of trees on either side, complements the existing hoop house adjacent to Dominican Hall, which grows salad greens and spinach.

Five Greats to be Inducted into Eagles Hall of Fame

The Edgewood College athletics department is pleased to announce that five former Eagles have been selected for induction into the Edgewood College Hall of Fame . Baseball player Matt Hill (1999-2002), women's soccer player Meghan Magner (1998-2001), women's basketball player Megan Scheele (2005-09), men's soccer player Nathan Selk (1993-96) and volleyball player Tara Zuhlsdorf (1991-94) will be inducted in a ceremony on April 22, 2016 in Madison.

Opportunities to Get Involved

Dan Oryall ’10 has translated his student athlete experience at Edgewood College into success professionally, and then some. Oryall was a standout on the Eagle Cross Country and Track teams, and in 2010, he received his BS in Biochemistry. Shortly thereafter, he began graduate study at UW-Madison to become a Physician’s Assistant. In 2012, he began working fulltime as a General Surgery PA with Dean/St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison. Today, he competes as a triathlete. He began racing in triathlons while at the College, as a way to supplement his cross country and track training.

Student Named ‘Young Philanthropist of the Year’

Alex Haunty, a student at Edgewood College, has been named the ‘Young Philanthropist of the Year’ by the Madison chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals. Haunty was honored at today’s National Philanthropy Day luncheon at the Overture Center in Madison.
