Polacek Honored with Marriage and Family Therapy Award

Madison, Wis. (October 17, 2023) – Edgewood College is pleased to announce that Deb Polacek, Associate Dean of Marriage and Family Therapy, has been named the 2023 Carl A. Whitaker Award honoree. Each year, the Wisconsin Association for Marriage and Family Therapy selects a mental health professional for the honor. The award is given to a Marriage and Family Therapist who has distinguished themselves by contributing to the field of Marriage and Family 

Therapy in creative or innovative ways.

“This award is a wonderful reflection of Deb’s leadership and dedication to improving lives in Wisconsin,” Margaret Noreuil, Ph.D., RN, Dean of the Henry Predolin School of Nursing, Business, Education, and Health Sciences, said. “She has been a champion of our graduate program, and is dedicated to the profession, and to ensuring access both to our students, and to the community that we serve through the Family Center.”

The Marriage and Family Therapy program at Edgewood College was launched in 1996. The same year the College opened The Family Center, a community-based, affordable outpatient mental health clinic, which also serves as the clinical site for the Marriage and Family Therapy Graduate Program.
