(March 22, 2016) – Dr. Scott Flanagan has been invited by the U.S. Department of Education to participate in “Championing Completion: Improving College Outcomes for Pell Students.” Only a select number of college and university presidents nationwide have been invited to attend this day-long meeting at the Department of Education in Washington, D.C. on March 24, 2016.

Madison, Wis. (February 18, 2016) – Mark Kennedy, a senior Theatre Arts major from Saint Paul, Minn., was honored with three awards from the 2016 Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF) for his work on Woods of Weaver specialty props. Mark won the Society of Properties Artisan Managers Award for Craft Excellence at ACTF Region III, the Stagecraft Institute of Las Vegas Award, and the Regional Allied Design and Technology Award. As a result, Mark is attending the Stagecraft Institute of Las Vegas for one week of intensive study with some of the country’s best prop masters.

At the start of the New Year, even before classes resumed, students at Edgewood College (with a little help from Dining Services) donated more than $5,000 in food to two local food banks.

An acclaimed young artist whose work explores the impermanence of her childhood in the foster care system, Tyanna J. Buie reclaims and rewrites her own experiences. She considers herself to be “fortunate to find my voice, creative vision, and a connection with the outside world through the making of images.”

Madison, Wis. (February 9, 2016) –The Edgewood College Chamber Singers, the College’s select choral ensemble, will perform at the International Sacred Music Festival in Quito, Ecuador in March 2016.

Madison, Wis. (February 4, 2016) – Edgewood College is honored to host Richard Blanco, an internationally recognized poet and storyteller, as the 2016 Woodrow Wilson Visiting Fellow. Mr. Blanco will be on campus from February 22-25, 2016.

Under the bright lights of the Diane Ballweg Theatre stage on a cold Thursday night in January, thirty-two cast and crew members are working with David Frank, former producing artistic director of American Players Theatre in Spring Green, Wisconsin. As they prepare for the February 26 opening of Bertholt Brecht’s The Caucasian Chalk Circle , students are connecting with a director whose professional theatre experience helped APT become recognized as the “best classical theatre company in America” (Wall Street Journal).

Recently, the College hosted nursing alum on campus, welcomed new alumni at commencement, reconnected with Washington, D.C. area alum, and helped celebrate 15 years of the School of Education's Doctoral program.

Julia Carey, a Communications Studies major from Middleton, Wis., is currently an intern in the College’s Athletic Communications Office. And she is well-qualified. Over the summer, she enjoyed an internship with FOX Sports North, living and working in the Twin Cities.

Madison, Wis. (January 12, 2016) – Edgewood College is pleased to announce that the Henry Predolin School of Nursing has been awarded a $42,000 grant from Bader Philanthropies, Inc. to develop a statewide collaborative among Wisconsin schools of nursing to address aging and dementia.

Madison, Wis. (January 7, 2016) – Edgewood College has been awarded the designation of a Top School in the 2016 Military Advanced Education & Transition Guide to Colleges & Universities, measuring best practices in military and veteran education. On the far northeast corner of campus, a group of faculty and students is putting the idea of sustainability into reality. On a crisp November morning, Senior Environmental Science major Ben Pratscher and associate professor Tim Kuhman, along with several other students, planted roughly 1,500 garlic cloves that will be harvested in the spring and used in both dining areas on campus. The garden, mostly hidden from view by a number of trees on either side, complements the existing hoop house adjacent to Dominican Hall, which grows salad greens and spinach.
