Edgewood College Offers Innovative Answer to Teacher Shortage

Madison, Wis. (August 10, 2023) – Edgewood College is offering an innovative solution to the teacher shortage in Wisconsin, and school districts are listening. The College has launched an Accelerated Teacher Residency program in recent months, and to date more than twenty school districts, including many from Dane County, have signed on, with more on the way.

Thanatology Program Director Named ADEC Academic Educator of the Year

Madison, Wis. (July 5, 2023) – The Association for Death Education and Counseling (ADEC) recognizes Thanatology professionals for their commitment to the field and advancing the study of dying, death, and bereavement. Janet McCord, Ph.D., F.T., received their “Academic Educator of the Year” award at the annual conference in Columbus, Ohio. The academic educator award honors an individual with expertise in the field of dying, death, and bereavement as demonstrated by advanced academic degrees, professional honors, awards, and other contributions.

Ehrhart ‘23 Blazes Path to Success

Ken Kavajacz Honored with Underkofler Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching Award

Madison, Wis. (May 4, 2023) – Dr. Ken Kavajacz has been honored with the 2023 Underkofler Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching Award at Edgewood College. “You will never find Dr. Kavajacz in his office when he is not teaching,” Victoria Palmisano, Associate Dean for Business, Communications, and Innovation, said. “He’s most often found in Wingra Commons, where he works on his courses and grading, and ensures that he is available for students to ask for help.”

Henry J. Predolin Foundation Gifts $1,165,000 for Scholarships

The partnership gives Edgewood College access to upGrad’s expertise in emerging technologies in online education, and will enable the College to expand the work begun by the Dominican Sisters of Sinsinawa in the Fall of 1927, the first year Edgewood Junior College began educating students.

New Nursing Degree Program Launched With UW-Whitewater at Rock County

Madison, Wis. (January 27, 2023) – Residents of southeastern Wisconsin will now have an opportunity to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing while remaining in the region. A unique new program brings the Nursing program at Edgewood College to the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater at Rock County campus, complete with a full faculty, clinical coordination expertise, and an innovative curriculum that integrates classroom instruction with hands-on clinical and simulation experiences.

Ruth Foundation for the Arts Makes Major Gift to Edgewood College

Madison, Wis. (December 8, 2022) – Ruth Foundation for the Arts (Ruth Arts) has announced a grant of $75,000 to Edgewood College for Ernest Hüpeden’s Painted Forest Art Environment in Valton, Wisconsin. This grant, as part of their total $11.5 million in gifts to 138 arts organizations this fall, came from the new Ruth DeYoung Kohler (RDK) Legacy Fund.
