Expert-Level Communication Studies at Edgewood College in Madison, WI

When you join the Communication Studies Department at Edgewood College, you join a vibrant, engaged, friendly and fun community of learners. Through our challenging curriculum and participation in activities like research conferences and our own chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA), you can develop a wide range of intellectual and applied skills. Our dedicated faculty work hard to ensure that our graduates are prepared for meaningful professional and personal lives.

Because hands-on professional experience is vital for today’s college graduates, we require our students to complete at least one internship. Past placements have been at FOX Sports in the Twin Cities, Madison Bratfest, Special Olympics, Monona Terrace and Convention Center, the Lussier Community Education Center and CUNA Mutual, among many other organizations. Our students have been so successful in these roles that many organizations now specifically request our majors to fill their internships.

Our curriculum offers breadth and flexibility well beyond most of our peer institutions, which allows you the chance to “find yourself” within the discipline and discover how you can meaningfully contribute to the world around you. You can choose from four concentrations to prepare for careers or graduate study in public relations, sales, social services, event planning, marketing, copywriting, advising, publishing, journalism, politics, advocacy, law, health communication and many more fields. We also offer an undergraduate certificate in Public Relations, which can be combined with any of our concentrations, or with other majors at Edgewood College.
