Student Development Coordinator

DESCRIPTION OF JOB:

Edgewood College is seeking a part-time 30 hours/week Coordinator in the Student Development Office. The Student Development Coordinator provides administrative support for the Dean of Students and the Division of Student Development in activities which support the College mission, goals and programs.  Assists in coordinating Dean of Students/Residence Life Office initiatives, including administrative support for full-time staff, student conduct processes, and residence life procedures. Provide coordination for a wide variety of publications, events and projects. Serve as an initial resource for students, making appropriate referrals and providing resource information.

Responsibilities:

Administrative Support

  • Provide Division of Student Development with clerical and general administrative support
  • Maintain calendars and appointments for Dean of Students, Assistant Dean of Students/Director of Student Conduct, and Director of Residence Life
  • Provide support for student conduct processes under the direction of the Assistant Dean of Students/Director of Student Conduct, including frequent use of conduct database software
  • Provide general Residence Life assistance during high traffic periods, including hall opening, closing and room selection
  • Maintain and update division-sponsored websites
  • Manage projects as assigned by the Dean of Student

Reception and Support

  • Provide reception for the Dean of Students/Residence Life suite including answering phones, responding to visitors, responding to general questions, and managing general emails to shared email accounts
  • Frequently interact and problem solve with students seeking support from the Division of Student Development and Dean of Students/Residence Life suite

Event Planning and Management

  • Design and coordinate marketing and communication campaigns to maximize student and family engagement with division initiatives
  • Coordinate division events including special events or meetings, employee search committees, and the Dominican Honors Award nomination process and ceremony

College and Division Service

  • Represent Division of Student Development and the Dean of Students at event days
  • Design and coordinate marketing and communication campaigns to maximize student and family engagement with division initiatives
  • Coordinate division events including the Dominican Honors Award nomination process and ceremony
  • Serve as a member of the Student Development Staff by attending meetings, retreats, and events as needed

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Necessary Education or Work Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years of customer service or related reception experience

Preferred Education or Work Experience:

  • 2+ years of experience working in an administrative support role, including calendar management
  • Experience working in a higher education setting
  • General knowledge of academic environments, especially those related to college student experiences and student affairs

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Problem solving/conflict resolution skills
  • Awareness, knowledge, and skills needed to work with others who are culturally different from self in meaningful, relevant, and productive ways
  • Experience establishing and maintaining working relationships

  • Organization skills
  • Computer proficiency and abilities
