School of Nursing Coordinator

DESCRIPTION OF JOB:

Edgewood College is seeking a full-time School of Nursing Coordinator.

Responsibilities:

Office Management

  • First line of response for day-to-day operations; respond to students, faculty, staff, visitors, messages, reports
  • Respond to internal and external inquiries and exercise sound judgment in referring inquiries or concerns
  • Be familiar with current issues of the School of Nursing to knowledgeably assist others with those concerns
  • Maintain calendar for the Dean of SoN, coordinate appointments; reserve meeting rooms
  • Prepare and maintain confidential materials and aggregate data for department administration, including student and faculty health records, criminal background reports, budgets, and contact/mailing lists
  • Record, prepare and distribute minutes of faculty meetings and annual Community Advisory Board meetings. (Share faculty minutes with Academic Dean and President).
  • Supervise and recruit work study students; establish and oversee work flow process; maintain and purchase office supplies
  • Proctor examinations for faculty when requested
  • Design and maintain current information on Nursing web page
  • Create/update admission packet for students admitted to the nursing program each semester
  • Create/update electronic newsletter monthly
  • Maintain/update website

Communication & Community Relations

  • Orient new faculty to the School of Nursing, coordinate office space, process health report and criminal background report
  • Direct and coordinate details for special events; the Nursing Graduation Reception each semester, the annual Community Advisory Board Meeting
  • Coordinate, on behalf of alumni/donor, special event for all School of Nursing, including faculty and clinical site management
  • Partner with Financial Aid office in keeping current with nursing scholarship opportunities, posting scholarships on website and maintaining scholarship binder in office
  • Create and design the annual School of Nursing newsletter
  • Coordinate “Advising Days” for faculty and nursing students each semester; compile and update clinical site information to be posted along with voting information. Coordinate with faculty the posting of clinical assignments and answer numerous student questions regarding the process for site selection and site assignment

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Necessary Education or Work Experience:

  • Associate degree or minimum of 5 years experience in a comparable field

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong interpersonal / teamwork skills
  • Management skills (organizing, delegating, problem-solving, negotiating, initiative
  • Time management skills; motivated to work independently, anticipate the Dean’s expectations
  • Ability to interact professionally with the Edgewood Community and outside community customers and contacts.
  • Proficiency in computer software and programs, including word processing, database software and knowledge of general office equipment
  • Excellent writing and editing skills
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
  • High degree of work accuracy/attention to details
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information; ability to work under pressure with frequent interruptions
  • Exercise discretion and confidentiality when faced with student questions, complaints, crises
  • Develop priorities and maintain the quality and timely schedule of workflow; project and document management
  • Plan, organize, and prepare meetings using efficient communication and organization skills, and coordinate appointments; attend events and assist in establishing and maintaining positive relations
  • Attend to calls and correspondence directed to the Dean and be able to screen, summarize, and/or respond effectively
