Lecturer – Mathematics

Description of Job

The Mathematics Program in the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Edgewood College invites applications for a full-time Lecturer position.

The ideal candidate will have a proven record of success in teaching with a focus on introductory level math courses. The candidate should be mission driven with a desire to innovate to improve and enhance the experience of college students in mathematics courses.  The successful candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity, inclusion, and multicultural competence in an educational and work environment and must be willing to contribute to the College’s strategic plan of inclusion. 

Responsibilities

  • Teach introductory undergraduate mathematics courses
  • Assist in designing courses
  • Implementing teaching strategies that facilitate student engagement and success with mathematics.
  • Mathematics faculty members are also expected to contribute to the mathematics program through appropriate service activities such as mentoring, assessment, and governance.

Job Qualifications

Necessary Education or Work Experience

  • MS, ABD, or earned doctorate in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or a closely related discipline (including at least 18 credits of graduate level math)
  • Experience working with undergraduates in the classroom
  • Ability to engage all students to develop the skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to reach their learning goals
  • Ability to work collaboratively with department colleagues and others on campus

Required Knowledge and Skills

An enthusiastic, reflective approach to teaching is required. Candidates with a demonstrated ability to create meaningful collegial relationships with students, faculty, and leadership with diverse backgrounds and points of view will be given priority consideration.
