Edgewood College Theatre seeks a part-time, Limited Term Employee (LTE), Assistant Technical Director. The Assistant Technician Director will produce a four-show season from August to May in a blackbox theatre. This position would assist in the construction of scenery based on drawings, hanging lighting and the setup of sound equipment, and provide oversight of the Scene Shop including but not limited to maintenance and organization. 

The Scene Shop is supported by a staff of 4-6 student workers of varying skill levels. Our technical staff includes a faculty Design and Technology Professor/Technical Director who designs scenery and mentors students in sound, lighting, props, paint, and scenery; a staff Costume Designer/Costume Shop Manager; and an over-hire Lighting Designer.

The incumbent will be scheduled approximately 8-10 hours a week based on needs and availability from August through December 2024. The position will require more hours to cover a planned sabbatical from January to May of 2025 which will require the incumbent to take on materials purchasing and acquisition, coordinating with the directors of the productions to finesse designs, and coordinating with the lighting designer to execute the light plot.  

Job Qualifications

Necessary Education or Work Experience

  • Highschool Diploma
  • Scenic carpentry experience
  • Theatrical electrician experience 

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Painting skills
  • Rigging skills
