Assistant Director, Nurse Anesthesia Program

The Assistant Director is responsible for leadership of the Nurse Anesthesia Program within the Henry Predolin School of Nursing, Business, Education, and Health Sciences (SoNBEHS). Operating under the auspices of the Dean, this position supports the Nurse Anesthesia Program Director in all facets of program administration, including but not limited to curriculum development and oversight, clinical rotations, simulation and lab experiences, and student services. The incumbent must actively support the mission of the college by working with faculty, staff, and students to share in our core values - truth, compassion, justice, partnership, and community.

Responsibilities

Academic/Teaching responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with Director(s) in the pre and post-licensure nursing programs to teach, develop, implement, refine, revise, and/or evaluate nursing student curriculum and policies.
  • Maintain scholarship and service activities appropriate for rank.
  • Manages classes and learning environments, selects appropriate materials to support curriculum, and provides constructive feedback to students.
  • Delivers effective instruction using technology and a variety of techniques in a manner appropriate to the course objectives.
  • Assesses student learning, designs assessments that measure student growth and aligns assessment with learning opportunities.
  • Promotes continual improvement as part of the cycle of teaching and learning develops and revises curriculum and instructional materials as needed.

 Student Service responsibilities

  • Participate in processes related to recruitment, selection, admission, advising, and progression of students consistent with the School of Nursing and Edgewood College admission policies, option assessment, and accreditation processes.

Outreach/Scholarly responsibilities 

  • Support existing strategic partnerships and assist in the establishment of new partnerships.
  • Build effective external partnerships. Network and travel regionally to build/expand on existing beneficial relationships.
  • Develop relationships between Edgewood College and the wider community.
  • Participates in program resource development, including simulation and obtaining intramural and extramural program support.
  • Pursues professional development, and contributes to academic discipline through research, presentations, and publications.
  • Participate in service through appropriate discipline-specific organizations, educational organizations, statewide boards/ committees, or community activities.
  • Represent the College and the SoNBEHS at professional activities at local, state, national, and international levels.

 Governance responsibilities

  • Provides coordination of program planning.
  • Communicates and coordinates effectively with faculty.
  • Serves as the programs’ advocate within the SoNBEHS
  • Assists with fulfilling accreditation requirements.
  • Serve on Edgewood College and SoNBEHS committees as needed and as indicated in SoNBEHS bylaws.

Job Qualifications

Necessary Education or Work Experience

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing and nurse anesthesia program associated with a regionally accredited institution of higher education
  • Doctoral degree appropriate to content area or near degree completion (final semester)
  • Current recertification by the National Board of Certification and Recertification eligible for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA)
  • Unencumbered license as a registered nurse and/or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse and eligible for licensure in the state of Wisconsin
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusivity
  • Minimum of five years clinical experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Graduate level teaching experience
  • Distance/online teaching experience
  • Evidence of scholarship and service
