Adjunct Instructor of Physics

The Department of Chemistry, Geoscience, & Physics at Edgewood College invites applications for an adjunct teaching position for the Spring 2022 semester. We are searching for a candidate to teach PHYS 130 S – Physics of Energy, Force, and Motion. The course meets Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 2:00 – 3:50 pm. 

Responsibilities

PHYS 130 S – Physics of Energy, Force, and Motion

This course includes principles of classic mechanics, including kinematics, Newton’s Laws, and energy. Emphasis is placed on applications in the real world (including biological and environmental applications). Students follow a guided inquiry approach to build on the concepts learned through hands-on activities involving exploration, modeling, and calculations. This course is an integrated lecture/laboratory that meets in three two-hour sessions per week.

Please note: we are also searching for an adjunct instructor for PHYS 150 S – Survey of Astronomy (see separate posting). Candidates may apply for both positions.

Job Qualifications

Necessary Education or Work Experience

  • A Master’s or Ph.D. in Physics
  • Experience teaching undergraduate courses

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • An enthusiastic, reflective approach to teaching
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
