Adjunct Instructor for Communication Studies
Description of Job
The Communication Studies Department at Edgewood College invites applications for an adjunct instructor to teach COMMS 100: Introduction to Communication in Fall 2023 and other Communication Studies courses as needed, with possibility for renewal. In the primary course, COMMS 100, students learn basic concepts in interpersonal, organizational, public and mediated communication, and will focus primarily on developing applied communication competencies in the following areas: personal relationships, conflict management, careers, small groups, public presentations, basic media literacy and civic engagement. One session of COMMS 100 will be taught in a hybrid way to emphasize hands-on experience developing online communication skills for students.
Responsibilities
Teach two sessions of 3-credit COMMS 100, and possibly other communication studies as needed; evaluate student progress and assign grades; meet with students outside of class as needed. Instructor must adhere to established learning outcomes and may use existing course materials, but functions independently.
Job Qualifications
Necessary Education or Work Experience
- Master’s degree in Communication required
- Ph.D. or work toward it preferred.
- Must have college-level instructional experience in communication studies.
