Study Abroad

Imagine yourself on a three-week trip to Cambodia exploring healthcare with other Edgewood College students and faculty, a five-week service learning and study program in Peru, an eight-week student teaching experience in Mexico or a semester study abroad program in Northern Ireland, Germany, or Spain.

As an Edgewood College student, you will be strongly encouraged to study abroad. Experiencing another culture firsthand is a unique opportunity for you to learn about the world and your place in it. Many of our study abroad programs include community engagement in the host country, which gives you the opportunity to engage with locals through practicums, volunteerism, and internships.

You have a wide choice of programs that will enhance your liberal arts education with a global perspective. We sponsor programs in over 54 countries on 6 continents! Common locations include: England, Germany, Czech Republic, Spain, Peru, Costa Rica, Cambodia, Australia, China, France and Italy.

Students in any major can study abroad and still graduate in four years with advanced planning.  Before departing, you work with your academic and study abroad advisors to ensure you will receive academic credit for coursework completed abroad. Beginning your freshman year, you will be encouraged to participate in faculty-led programs and to start the planning process for a semester or year length study abroad program. You must have sophomore status to apply for semester or academic year programs.

The Center for Global Education will advise you through all stages of your study abroad experience, including: program selection, applications, financing options, pre-departure orientation, on-site support while abroad, and continued guidance on integrating study abroad into your personal and professional life.
